WORD TIP: REMOVING
DIRECT FORMATTING
Q. If there are no codes to delete in MS Word, how can I get rid of formatting
I don't want?
A. Every paragraph in a Word document is formatted with a style. Paragraph
and font formatting that is applied through the formatting toolbar, Font,
or Paragraph dialog boxes (rather than a style) is direct formatting which
over-rides the paragraph style formatting.
To remove direct character formatting (such as bold, italics, underline,
typeface, and point size): Selecting the text and then pressing CTRL+SPACE.
To remove direct paragraph formatting (such as line spacing, indents,
paragraph spacing, and tab settings): select the paragraph(s) and pressing
CTRL+Q.
If the unwanted formatting remains, press CTRL+SHIFT+N to switch the style
to Normal.
